ITINERARY

Morning start in the heart of Julian Alps. Scenic Vrsic mountain road will take us over the highest paved mountain pass in Slovenia at 1.611 meters (5.285 feet) altitude. It has a historical value that goes back to the WWI. Make sure to have your camera ready as you’ll undoubtedly have many good photo opportunities. We are going to follow emerald Soca River with its narrow gorges and stop in Trenta to visit an interesting Alpine museum. Cross Napoleon’s bridge to rich picturesque Kozjak waterfall caught in a stony amphitheatre. It is going to be an easy hike that is 2,4 km (1,5 mile) long altogether. After lunch break, we will visit WWI museum in Kobarid. Museum gives an unbiased insight of the events that happened in one of the major battles in the history of mankind on hilly terrain. It was awarded the Council of Europe Museum Prize and since its opening in 1990, it was visited by many notable people like monarchs, presidents of states, church superiors etc. Drive back to Ljubljana.
