This tour is not just a food/beer tour; it is also a city tour. Take a look at what we cover on this tour: Ljubljana is very walkable and mostly flat city so you can enjoy the tour as your local guide illuminates the sights with insightful history and commentary throughout the tour. Ljubljana has a very long tradition of brewing, proof of which are 3,900-year-old beer barrels excavated at the Ljubljana Marshes. The earliest known brewery in Ljubljana dates back at least to 1592, and by 1796, the city had six breweries. Recent years have seen a rapid growth in the popularity of craft beers made by different microbreweries in Ljubljana and its surrounding area.

Visit Ljubljana’s most representative square – Congress square and learn about its interesting history and many important buildings around it; University of Ljubljana, Philharmonic Academy and more. Continue in medieval spirit by listening tales from your guide who will make past times come alive in the old streets of Ljubljana. Stroll through cobbled streets, full of restaurants and cafes and feel the vibe of the city. Ljubljana’s riverbank is especially popular among locals and visitors and this is where we will have one of our tastings. Pass baroque Robba’s fountain and stop to see City hall that is sitting at the same place for more than 500 years. Near the Central market, there is Cathedral of St Nicholas, a beautiful baroque church with an unusual facade that has ancient Roman tombstones on it. Walk underneath collonaded market near Ljubljanica river, cross the famous Triple Bridge, created by famed architect Jože Plečnik, a great European architect and a local of Ljubljana. Stop at the place where all locals meet; Preseren square is one of the city’s most important landmarks, named after Slovenia’s national poet France Preseren. Learn about Preseren’s interesting life and unheard love in the times when Europe was approaching great changes. Admire colourful buildings on Secession street and then take a walk towards Brewery Museum**, set up by the Pivovarna Union brewery where we complete the tour with more beer and tasty food. Get ready for a great experience – come join us!
