DETAILED ITINERARY (DAY-BY-DAY)

DAY 1: Thursday June 24: Arrival to Madrid

Welcome to Madrid!, known as the city of the “Bear and the Strawberry Tree” (villa del Oso y el Madroño). Transfer from Madrid airport to the hotel. Check in at hotel and time to freshen up. Meet your fellow travelers at orientation briefing with your Travel Director. Welcome drink will be followed by Spanish dinner with Flamenco show. Ole!

DAY 2: Friday June 25: Madrid

Visit one of Europe’s most beautiful and historic cities with a local guide. City tour of Madrid’s impressive architecture begins at the Plaza de Cibeles with its striking buildings. Continue to view the magnificent Royal Palace, Europe’s second largest, and to Plaza de España dominated by the monument to Cervantes, famed author of Don Quixote. The rest of the day is yours to explore on your own. Or, attend the optional experience of nearby Toledo. We will take a train to the former capital city of Spain and discover its medieval atmosphere and charm with the local guide. Recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1986, Toledo is known for its extensive monumental heritage and historical coexistence of Christian, Muslim and Jewish cultures. Visit St. Tome Church, with its magnificent masterpiece by El Greco. Return to Madrid.

DAY 3: Saturday June 26: Madrid – Barcelona

Depart from Madrid and travel with high speed train to Barcelona. Upon arrival, panoramic bus drive along the Old Harbor to the Plaza Catalunya, the city’s bustling main square. Pass the famous works of Antonio Gaudi, the Catalan master architect, including Casa Batllo and Casa Mila. Then, continue on to view the iconic symbol of Barcelona, Gaudi’s masterpiece, La Sagrada Familia, perhaps the most famous incomplete building in the world. Ascend Montjuic Hill, home to the Olympic Complex, a number of sports facilities built for the 1992 Summer Olympics. The rest of the day is at leisure for individual activities. In the evening we will go on a special tour called “The dark history night walking tour”. Be amazed by the stories about a glorious Spanish history. Evening at leisure.

DAY 4: Sunday June 27: Barcelona

In the morning free time in La Rambla street and Barri Gothic, Center of Barcelona. Enjoy your free time or optional visit of famous Gaudi’s La Sagrada Familia cathedral. Explore the masterpiece of the Catalan greatest architect on a guided tour. In afternoon drive to Catalan countryside and visit the Codorniu winery, one of the largest and finest producers of Cava – sparkling wine in the world.  Continue to spectacular Montserrat mountain famous of breathtaking views and home the Royal Basilica and view the world-famous 12th-century Romanesque sculpture of “Virgen Moreneta.” – the patron saint of Catalan people. Return back to Barcelona. Evening at leisure.

DAY 5: Monday June 28: Barcelona – Andorra

Depart Barcelona to Pyrenees mountains to Andorra, 6th smallest European country. Upon arrival we will have a typical Pyrenees mountain lunch in traditional restaurant called “borda”. In afternoon arrival to the highest European capital Andorra La Vella. In this afternoon and evening you will have time for leisure, tax free shopping and for activities on own. Or, you can visit Caldea spa, the biggest spa/pool system in Europe (optional). Relaxation with some beautiful mountain vistas.

DAY 6: Tuesday June 29: Andorra – Carcassonne – Provance – Avignon

In the morning drive to France and we will make our first stop in Carcassonne – Europe’s best-restored ancient fortified city with its over fifty towers and turrets, still standing today. Stroll along the medieval cobbled streets full of interesting shops and restaurants. Continue to the beautiful Provence region and stop for visit of Pont du Gard, a very well-preserved Roman aqueduct. Afterward drive to World famous winegrowing area of Cheatauneuf-des-Papes, former Roman and Pope’s vineyards. Wine tasting in 2000 years old wine cellar and dinner in the restaurant located in the ruins of former medieval pope’s countryside palace/castle. Overnight in Avignon.

DAY 7: Wednesday June 30: Avignon – Aigues Mortes – Saintes Marie-de-la-Mer

This morning city tour of Avignon, the “City of Popes” named after seven popes who reigned there during the 1300s. Admire the Place de l’Horlorge, the city’s main square and guided visit of Palais des Papes (Palace of the Popes), a fortress-like palace that once served as the papal residence. After the free time drive to the south to the fortress town Aigues Mortes, which was built for the purposes of departure port for crusaders on the way to the Holly land. Free time for lunch. Continue to Saintes Marie-de-la-Mer, pilgrimage center for all catholic gypsies of the world. Discover the legend of three Maries who landed here after leaving the Holly land. Enjoy in this Spanish like town in the south of France. Return to Avignon.

DAY 8: Thursday July 1: Avignon – Verdon Canyon – Nice

Departure from Avignon to the last region on the tour – Cote de Azur. Our route goes through Provencal Alps. Stop in a small, quiet village Mousteiers-Sainte-Marie which is surrounded with spectacular scenery. Continue to the famous Verdon Canyon, one of the deepest in the world. Scenic mountain drive with plenty of opportunities for photo stops. Next stop is in the world capital of perfume industry – Grasse. Visit one of the producers of quality perfumes with a long tradition. In the late afternoon arrival to French riviera and vivid Nice. Nice is known for its fantastic climate, fabulous beaches and beautiful coastline with mesmerizing views. Also for its fantastic architecture with Belle Epoque and Baroque influenced buildings. Short orientation tour and evening at leisure.

DAY 9: Friday July 2: Nice – Monaco

Today, drive to the Principality of Monaco to see the route of the Grand Prix, the luxury boats in the harbor and view the Prince’s Palace, stop on the famed “Rock”. Monaco is the epitome of wealth and glamour; a prime destination for royalty and some of Hollywood’s most famous actors and actresses. Visit of Palais de Princes and world-famous Oceanographic institute. After the lunch break continue to Monaco’s best-known quarter Monte Carlo. In your free time is possible to visit the Monaco Casino and perhaps catch your luck by hitting a jackpot! Return to Nice and free time before the farewell dinner.

Terms & Conditions for program Experience Spain and France with Kara Maruszak & Friends

  1. Payment: A deposit fee of $400.00 USD is required to hold your spot on the tour. FULL TOUR PAYMENT IS DUE APRIL 30, 2021. All payments should be made on www.gotosloveniatravel.com using a credit card (Visa, American Express, and MasterCard are accepted).
  2. Airfare: Tour participants are responsible for obtaining their own airfare. Airfare is not included in the tour price.
  3. Baggage Allowance: Baggage fees may apply. Check with your chosen carrier for fees and size of bags. The tour operator has requested that there be a limit of 1 large suitcase at 50 pounds due to space restrictions aboard the motorcoach. NO RESPONSIBILITY IS INCURRED FOR LOST OR DAMAGE TO BAGGAGE OR ANY OF THE PASSENGER’S PERSONAL BELONGINGS.
  4. Passport Requirements: A valid passport is required for all tour participants. A U.S. passport is valid for 10 years. Your passport must be valid for at least 6 months following your return to the United States. To apply for passports, contact your local passport office, Clerk of the District, or County Court.
  5. Tour Price Excludes: airport departure taxes, customs user fees, passports, all visa fees, optional tours, telephone, telex, fax and telegram charges, internet, excess baggage charges, sundry tips, laundry, beverages and food not on the regular table d’hote menu (these items will be billed to you before leaving the hotel or restaurant), portage at U.S./Canadian airports and all other items of a personal nature. Service charges at hotels and restaurants are prepaid. Travel insurance and airfare is not included.
  6. Refund and Unused or Amended Tour Arrangements: Unused hotel accommodations, tour features or services are non-refundable, nor exchangeable for other accommodations, services, or features. Should there be any reason to change features of the tour for the group, any additional expenses will be charged to the tour participants. If a change becomes necessary for any reason, tour operator will make best efforts to substitute hotels equivalent of those shown. Single rooms are available at a supplemental charge.
  7. Cancellation Penalties: If you cancel your reservation, your right to receive a refund is limited at set forth in the following schedules. All requests for refunds must be submitted in writing. Charges for cancellation of the tour will be assessed by the tour operators and hotels as follows:

90-60 Days Prior to Departure $350 USD per person
61-30 Days Prior to Departure U.S. 75% per person
29 Days or Less Prior to Departure 100% Penalty and No Refund

Cancellation charges also apply to additional accommodations reserved prior to and after the tour.

  1. Insurance: While every effort is made to ensure that baggage is properly handled and that the cancellation charges to you are kept at a minimum, tour operator is not responsible for damages, loss or theft of luggage or personal belongings.
  2. Revisions: A handling fee of $30.00 USD per transaction will be charged for any alteration or revision. A change of tour or itinerary within 45 days of departure will be treated as a cancellation and new booking; regular cancellation fees apply.
  3. Responsibility Clause: Go to Slovenia Travel (“the Company”) is responsible to you in making arrangement for the tour services offered in this brochure, including transportation, sightseeing and hotel accommodations. The carriers, hotels, and other suppliers providing tour services are independent contractors and are not agents, employees or servants of or joint ventures with Company. All certificates and other travel documents for tour services issued by the Company are subject to the terms and conditions specified by the suppliers and to the laws of the countries in which services are supplied. If the services included on the tour cannot be supplied or there are changes in an itinerary for reasons beyond the control of the Company, the Company will arrange for the provisions of comparable services. Any resulting additional expenses will be payable by tour participants. The Company reserves the right to make changes in the itinerary whenever the Company deems it necessary for the comfort, convenience or safety of tour participants, and to cancel a tour at any time. If the Company cancels a tour, it shall have no responsibility beyond the refund of all monies paid to the Company by tour participants. The tour participant agrees that neither the Company or Kara Maruszak shall be liable for any damages, loss (including personal injury, death and property loss or expenses occasioned by any act or omission of any supplier providing tour services or of any other person. No person, other than an authorized representative of the Company by a document in writing, is authorized to vary any term or condition in this brochure, including any term of condition set forth in the preceding paragraphs.
